This summer, aspiring actors ages 14–18 have a unique opportunity to develop their craft through an intensive acting program hosted at the University of Pennsylvania. Running from July 6 to July 29, 2026, the Summer Acting Training program will take place at the Platt Student Performing Arts House, offering students a focused and professional environment to grow as performers.
The program is centered on the techniques of renowned acting teacher Stella Adler, whose approach emphasizes imagination, emotional truth, and a deep understanding of character. Throughout the course, students will engage in scene and monologue work while learning how to access authentic performances through psychological intention and given circumstances.
Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, creating a structured yet manageable schedule for participants. The program is designed for dedicated and disciplined students who are serious about improving their acting skills and exploring their artistic potential.
Admission to the program is by audition only. Interested students must prepare a short scene provided in advance. Auditions will take place at multiple locations, including the historic Walnut Street Theatre, Radnor High School, and the UPenn Performing Arts House. There is no fee to audition, and the $375 program cost is only required upon acceptance. Financial assistance, including a potential 50% fee reduction, is available for students with demonstrated need.
This program offers more than just acting instruction; it provides young performers with the tools to better understand themselves, collaborate with others, and bring truth to the stage. For students passionate about theater, it’s a valuable opportunity to train in a collegiate setting and take meaningful steps toward artistic growth.
