With spring sports now in full swing, girls and boys lacrosse have started up and started strong. Both teams secured a victory at their first game of the season, showing their strength early.
In the past, Garnet Valley’s lacrosse programs have been some of the strongest sports teams throughout the school. The boy’s team has won two District Championships, one in 2018 and one just two seasons ago in 2024. While the Lady Jags have only one District Championship under their belt (won in 2018), they have four State Championship titles on top of that, won in 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015. The girls have also won the Central League title in 2014 and 2018.
Garnet Valley’s boys lacrosse is expected to have a strong regular like they have in years past. The Jags proved this expectation with a powerful first game win against Central Bucks West, taking down the team last Friday 12 to 7 at CB West High School. During this game, senior Parker Williams scored his 100th goal of his high school career, a great way to start off his senior season.
The boy’s team next game is this Tuesday, 3/17, where they will play Central Bucks South at home. The team’s 11 seniors are sure to help lead the Jags to another victory, this time at home where Garnet Valley fans can celebrate with them.
The Lady Jags also played their first regular season game last Tuesday, but instead played at home against Phoenixville Area High School. The girls showed no mercy, taking down the Phantoms 12 to 1. Led by their five senior captains, Ellarose Griggs, Brooke McGovern, Hannah Pell, Ava Chairtonchick, and Erica Jones, as well as junior captain Summer Bakey, the team competed hard and showed fans how strong of a team they will be this season.
The girls will play Pennridge High School this Tuesday, 3/17, at home as well. There is no slowing down in sight for this historically successful team. Jaguar fans are excited to follow alongside the girls as they continue to dominate this season.
The strong start of both boys and girls lacrosse has shown GV fans there will be something exciting to stay on top of this spring sports season… best of luck to both teams!
