Ashley's Deck Full of Garnet Valley Football Bonding

Ashley's Bar and Restaurant is a great place to be every Thursday night.

Every Thursday, Scott Green and Greg Mink record a half-hour show that plays before the football game’s live broadcast on the following Friday. Ashley’s Restaurant and Bar is where they record the broadcast, and people are allowed to come out and watch and enjoy great food. The broadcast is held at 6:30 every Thursday, so be sure to go to Ashely’s to watch it early and get some nice dinner. Scott and Greg will interview a new group of people each week, such as the coaches or the team captains. This week, Thursday the 17th, the Garnet Valley football players who are juniors will be attending the broadcast this week as a group, and Scott and Greg will be personally interviewing some of the junior players. Two weeks ago, on Wednesday September 2nd, the broadcast was held a day early since the game was on a Thursday. The seniors attended as a group and the team captains were interviewed, Coltan Turner, Nicky Potts, Michael Archer, and Ethan Vaughn. Captains were asked questions such as:

"What things did you learn from your senior captains last year that you would like to carry on into your year as captains?" (Scott Green)

"They made us all feel equal." (Turner)
"On the field, compete, and take everything personally." (Vaughn)
"Keep everyone on the same page." (Archer)
"Pointing fingers is not always the solution to a problem." (Potts)

"How do you guys, as captains, keep everyone on the same page and keep everybody positive?" (Greg Mink)

"Make everybody realize that bad things are going to happen." (Turner)
"Leading by example." (Vaughn)
"As captains, I feel like we're always on the same page, and we always know what we're all thinking." (Archer)
"Showing that everything is going to be alright." (Potts)

The hosts, Scott and Greg, then drew five names out of a hat to participate in a mini-golf putting competition. If three out of the five players were able to successfully putt the ball in, there would be no conditioning that week. Unfortunately, the first four players were not able to get their ball in, so Greg allowed the team to choose one more player to come up and attempt the challenge if the fifth player, Liam Genthert, made it. If the player that the team selected made it, there would be no conditioning that week. Genthert made it, giving the team hope. The team selected Ryan Vance to attempt the challenge. Unfortunately, Vance was unable to complete the challenge, and there was still conditioning that week!

Be sure to attend Garnet Valley Football’s Pre-Show Broadcast this Thursday 6:30 PM at Ashley’s Restaurant and Bar!
